Apple Inc. NASDAQ: AAPL It was a company that always measured twice and then cut once. The fact that Apple is behind the AI party is no surprise. Apple doesn’t tend to rush into things. The company is known to adopt trends slower, but it runs at a high level.
So its smart display, HomePad, is probably not a major surprise to consumers and investors.
The device was originally scheduled to be released in late 2024, but the company is taking the extra time to complete the hardware and intelligence within the device. New releases could occur in the second half of 2025, but they’re more likely in 2026.
This delay comes at a challenging time. Apple faces multiple issues, particularly regarding the impact of tariffs on the flagship iPhone. This is the weight of AAPL stocks that fell 20.15% in 2025 and slows down many tech stocks.
Therefore, a delayed boot is not ideal. However, after the warm water of Apple Intelligence, Apple needs to do it right. Because the home pad is not just another smart device. It could be the cornerstone of Apple’s Smarthome ambition.
What’s good and bad about Apple Intelligence
Apple took a long time to boot The long-awaited Apple Intelligence. However, for many users, that “limit” outweighs its advantages.
That’s not to say that iPhone 16 was poorly sold, but as a normal part of the Apple Intelligence or Upgrade cycle, it’s difficult to measure whether consumers are getting a new iPhone.
That’s the general feeling Apple Intelligence is incomplete. This needs to be addressed before you can enable Apple to successfully launch a smart hub designed to seamlessly manage lights, music, camera feeds and daily life.
HomePad can give Apire the final laugh with AI
The HomePad is an extension of Apple’s HomePod, which is part of Apple’s HomeKit. I promise to make Apple important Smart Home Market Players.
Apple could also fall into leadership positions in new fields of ambient intelligence. This refers to an environment using electronic devices that sense, recognize and adapt to human presence.
At the developer meeting in May, Alphabet Inc. NASDAQ: Google It introduced Gemini Live, the company’s first foray into ambient intelligence. Again, Apple catches up, but the HomePad has the advantage of being part of Apple’s walled garden.
It’s a big garden. A 2023 survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, LLC (CIRP) said 30% of Apple owners own all of Apple’s Core 4 products (iPhone, iPad, Mac Computer, and Apple Watch).
Now consider how HomePad integrates with each of these devices, along with Apple Music, AppleTV and more. You get the photos.
There’s a reason why Apple fights hard to protect its walled gardens. Reducing churn by increasing switching costs is a major competitive advantage.
Shareholder value may come in the future
Like many Apple devices, the widespread adoption of HomePad can take several generations.
However, like the iPad and later the Apple Watch, the company has a way of turning products that appear to be expensive curiosity into key technologies that bring consumers closer to the company’s ecosystem.

But what does that mean for AAPL stocks?
Like many of its products, it is unlikely that Apple will announce its HomePad revenue as a line item. However, we know that it will become part of the company’s wearables, home and accessories category. That portion of the business generated revenue of $39.84 billion in fiscal year 2024 (ends September 2024).
That’s only about 10% of Apple’s total revenue last year. So you have to say you’re a home pad You can’t move stocks right away.
But the same thing was said about the Apple Watch. It has now become an important part of the company’s planning, including being a major force in healthcare. In fact, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lists the Apple Watch as a wellness tool. That’s the only thing that is expensive curiosity.
It feels like Apple is on the verge of perverts. That’s not to say that the iPhone is becoming outdated or less important. But there is a belief that when Apple is quiet, it is dangerous.
The HomePad is quiet right now, but it can get noisy soon. That may not be a reason why investors own AAPL stocks, but rather a good reason to put it on their watch list.
