Given that most waffle house locations are open 24 hours a day and the food is solid, fresh and very reasonably priced, it’s no surprise that the diners have accumulated such passionate cult following.
People around the world love it for all these reasons, but Waffle House has a particularly enthusiastic follower in Georgia. It was founded in 1955 by Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Faulkner. The two decided they wanted to create a 24-hour restaurant for their friends.
Visitors to the area can also visit Waffle House Museum in Decatur, Georgia, located on the grounds of the original restaurant that Rogers Sr. and Faulkner opened in the 50s. It is only open for guided tours and requires booking in advance, but it’s a pretty cool way to peek into the humble beginnings of a classic diner.

It is worth noting that Waffle House does not play the same rules as many other food businesses. There’s no need to constantly add new items to the menu to make people visit (the recently added strawberry shortcake waffles certainly have attracted some attention on social media).
But now they’re adding something new that looks particularly modern for the brand’s old-fashioned vibe. And that’s something that many people are happy to see.
Waffle House’s new partnership
Starting in 2026, you can do other things at the same time the next time you go to Waffle House and satisfy your cravings. Charge your electric vehicle.
Thanks to the new partnership between BP Pulse and Waffle House, locations across the United States, including locations in Texas, Georgia and Florida, will have BP Pulse Charge Points installed. The press release states that these will also come “other places in the south and southeast,” but certain states have not yet been named.

“Each site features six ultra-fast EV charging bays with 400kW DC fast chargers and a mixture of CCS and NACS connectors to meet customer needs,” the release said.
BP Pulse currently operates more than 40,000 charging points worldwide and has earned over 8,000 locations in 46 states. Though it is not the largest EV charging network, the company is clearly growing rapidly.
Despite the shaking voice, charging networks continue to grow
Electric cars were considered hot new ten years ago, leading to automotive companies responding with their own plans to partially or fully power in the future.
Some of the movement was led by Elon Musk’s Tesla, an early cheerleader of EVS in the US market. Tesla’s success has had a major impact on the automotive industry, and other companies like ChargePoint and Electrify America followed suit as they built their supercharger network to support all EV maintenance.
Now, while President Trump’s looming threats and Tesla loses Wall Street’s hopes amidst stagnant demand, the rush of adopting EV technology appears to be slowing among well-known companies. For example, Honda announced this week that it would fall below its EV targets below its previous commitment.
That being said, if you already own an EV and imagine a trip to a waffle to your future house, at least you know you can charge while you enjoy Joe’s delicious cup.
