Trump deploys more National Guard troops to LA

President Donald Trump has allowed another 2,000 National Guard personnel to be deployed in Los Angeles, U.S. officials told the Associated Press on Monday.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom Blasted out a new development ordered a few hours later I sued Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses for federalizing the first 2,000 California National Guard troops sent to LA to the governor’s objection.

“This is not about public safety. It’s about stroking the ego of a dangerous president,” Newsom wrote. I’ll post it on x.

Earlier on Monday, the Department of Defense mobilized 700 US Marines to LA to support security forces already deployed there to protect federal officials and property during protests against federal immigration enforcement measures.

Newsom said the first 2,000 National Guard troops Trump deployed in LA on Saturday night “doesn’t give them food or water.”

“Only about 300 people are unfolding. The rest are sitting, not in a federal building without orders,” Newsmu wrote in a tweet.

The American Civil Liberties Union has condemned Trump’s mobilization of Marines.

“Every move President Trump made since Saturday night was escalators and inflammatory,” said Hina Shamsi, director of the ACLU national security project. Hina Shamsi, Director of the ACLU National Security Project; said in a statement.

“The idea that these Marines are close to the training necessary to police protests while respecting the constitutional rights of people would be hilarious if the situation wasn’t so surprising,” Shamsi said.

Trump’s comments came in response to questions about his border emperor Tom Homan, who threatened to arrest Newsom.

Newsom fought back.

“The US President called for the arrest of the sitting governor, a day I hoped not to see it in America,” the newspaper wrote in a tweet.

He appeared in federal court on Monday, and the judge ordered him an order to be released on $50,000 bonds, warning him to stay away from federal agents and federal businesses.

Trump said Monday that he “has made a major decision to send the National Guard to deal with violent and incited riots in California.”

“If they hadn’t done so, Los Angeles would have been completely wiped out,” Trump wrote in a social media post.

Trump also called Newsom “incompetent,” and the governor and La Mayor Karen Bass thanked him, saying, “You’re so great. We wouldn’t have anything without you.”

“Instead, they chose to lie to the people of California and America, saying we didn’t need them, and these are “peaceful protests,” Trump wrote.

Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., accused Trump of engaging in “repurposing” by deploying security guards.

“Donald Trump is in the midst of the war with Elon Musk and his ugly tax bill that tears health care from 17 million people – in desperate need of diversion,” Schumer said in a statement.

“His order to deploy the National Guard in California is unnecessary, inflammatory and provocative. Trump should immediately revoke his order to use the National Guard and leave law enforcement to the governor and mayor.

“Americans don’t need or deserve this unnecessary, provocative confusion.”
