With Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 140 on Sunday, the Air Quality Control Committee (CAQM) has cancelled the already in effect Stage I of the National Capital Region (NCR) Phased Response Action Plan (GRAP).
This is considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups” as the capital has recorded an AQI of 140, but it escapes the “poor” category.
At today’s meeting, the GRAP subcommittee further considered the air quality scenarios for the region, as well as forecasts based on the Indian Meteorological Bureau (IMD) and Delhi Air Quality Index.
“The Delhi AQI shows consistent improvements due to favorable weather conditions, and Delhi AQI was recorded as 140 on June 15th, 2025 (the “moderate” category).
Furthermore, IMD/IITM predictions predict that AQI will remain primarily in the “moderate” category.
Therefore, the subcommittee has decided to rescind the order. This command invoked actions under stage I (“poor” air quality) of the extant graps throughout the NCR, and quickly worked.
“All relevant state government agencies. All NCR agencies should be experienced at present and ensure all statutory instructions, advice, orders, etc. to maintain a better AQI level to ensure that air quality does not slip into the “poor” category. Guidelines issued by each state government. The respective state government and the Pollution Prevention Commission/DPCC have been issued across all contribution sectors,” the order read.
Earlier on June 7, CAQM implemented Delhi-NCR’s Grading Response Action Plan (GRAP) with immediate and effectiveness.
AQI ratings can be categorized as follows: 0-50 (Good), 51-100 (Satisfactory), 101-200 (Moderate), 201-300 (Poor), 301-400 (Very poor), 401-500 (Severe).
