What is compassionate ground transfer?
These transfers are permitted when officers are facing personal difficulties or emergency situations requiring them to move to another location. PNB’s policy includes seven important conditions that allow executives to apply for a compassionate transfer.
1️⃣Medical location (self, spouse, or child)
- If an officer, spouse, or dependent is suffering from a serious illness, they can apply for transfer.
- Eligible diseases include cancer, paralysis, renal failure, coronary artery disease, thalassemia, and Parkinson’s disease.
- The transfer request must be submitted within one year of the initial diagnosis.
2‑Spouse’s death
- If an officer’s spouse dies, they can request that they transfer to a location where they can receive family support within one year.
- The transfer is intended to help executives recover emotionally and adapt to their new living environment.
Resignation within one year
- Officers who plan to retire within 12 months can request a transfer to their hometown.
- Condition: If an officer has been promoted, this transfer must be completed on at least two years’ current scale before applying for this transfer.
4️⃣Married couples (both work at PNB)
- If both husband and wife work in PNB, the bank will try to place them in the same city or station.
- Condition: If any of them are transferred for promotion or rotation, they must work at a new location for at least two years before requesting a transfer to reunion.
5️⃣Forwarding for female officers (if your spouse is not in PNB)
- Female officers can request transfers to their spouse’s location.
- Limitations: This option can only be used three times in an executive’s carrier, with the minimum gap between such transfers being 2 years.
- If transferred for promotion, she must complete this transfer two years before requesting this transfer.
6️⃣If your spouse is in the central/state government, you will be transferred.
- Officers whose spouse is working in the central or state government can request a transfer to the spouse’s location.
- Limitations: Up to three transfers in a police carrier, there is a two-year gap between each transfer.
- Condition: If an officer is promoted or rotated and transferred, it must be completed two years before applying for this transfer.
7️⃣Childcare and pregnancy transfer for female executives
- A female officer can request that she transfer to her husband, parents, or in-laws in two situations.
– Pregnant (up to 2 years, 9 months including pregnancy and child).
– If the child is under 2 years old (until the child is 2 years old). - Condition: If an officer is transferred for promotion, she must serve two years before requesting the transfer of childcare.
- Limitations: The lower transfer, which combines spouse (non-PNB), government spouse, and childcare, can only be used three times in the executive career.
Conclusion: Is it fair?
PNB’s compassionate ground relocation aims to provide relief to officers facing extreme difficulties. However, there are still some limitations.
✅Good:
- Covers authentic cases such as medical issues, spouse relocation, pregnancy and more.
- A fair process with clear rules and restrictions.
- Ensures a balance between executive needs and bank requirements.
❌Improvement is needed:
- Some rules (such as the 3 transportation restrictions) may be limited on long carriers.
- In cases of hard work, you need the flexibility necessary for inter-circle requests.
