Ind Pack tension: Delhi International Airport Limited (dial) on Sunday said operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport remained normal, but warned that continued airspace restrictions and enhanced security protocols could lead to some flights facing disruption.

Flyers may experience longer latency at security checkpoints as the Civil Aviation Security Agency (BCAS) implements more stringent screening procedures.

The dial encourages all passengers to arrive much earlier than scheduled flight times, taking into account potential delays during the security process. “The flyers are required to rely solely on official sources for accurate information and avoid sharing unverified content on social media,” the airport operator said in a post on X.

The enhanced security arrangements first introduced due to the recent escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan continue to be effective as a precaution. This comes despite reaching understanding of the ceasefire on Saturday following calls between military officials from both countries. However, the uncertainty persists as Islamabad reportedly violated the ceasefire shortly after its announcement.

The closure of 24 airports has been extended until May 15th

Meanwhile, the government has extended the temporary closure of 24 airports near the Indian-Pakistan border, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamunagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot.

Air India said flights to and from these airports remain cancelled during this period. Affected passengers holding a valid ticket will be eligible for a one-time waiver of full refunds or rescheduling fees. Other carriers have announced similar flexibility.

Airports and airlines are urging passengers to stay up to date via social media, the official website and the Airport Exhibition Committee. Any suspicious activity or unattended items must be reported immediately to the nearest CISF officer.
