Arshad Nadeem avoids Neeraj Chopra’s questions
Responding to a reporter’s question about Neeraj Chopra’s recent comments, Arshad said, “I don’t want to comment on Neeraj due to the ongoing conflict with India. I’m from the village. I just say I’ll always stand in my family and our army.”
Nee Raj keeps itself away
Prior to the Doha Diamond League, Neeraj Chopra said his relationship with Arshad Nadeem never approached, showing that recent events have changed things further. “I want to make it clear that I have no particularly strong relationship with Nadeem – we weren’t really close friends, but things wouldn’t be like that because of the current situation.
Criticism of postponed events
Neeraj had previously invited Alshad to the Neeraj Chopra Classic, an event approved in global athletics, which will be held in Bengaluru but is now postponed. The invitation was sent before the terrorist attack in Pahargam, Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed. Following the attack, Neeraj faced backlash from some social media users to include Arshad in its event lineup.
India-Pakistan border tensions
In response to the Pahargam incident, India has launched operations on Sindo-targeting camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied by Kashmir. This situation led to an increase in tension along the border before the two countries agreed to a ceasefire.
Sports rivalry continues
Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra have been rivals on the international stage since the 2018 Asian and Federal Games. At the 2024 Parisiolmím, Arshad won a gold medal with a 92.97 metre throw, surpassing Neeraj, widely considered his favorite.
